Seville Weather in April: Temperature, Sunshine and What to Expect
April is one of the best months to visit Seville.
The weather in Seville in April sits in a sweet spot: warm enough to enjoy the city comfortably, but not yet the intense heat that arrives in June and July. Crowds are up, yes, but so is the atmosphere, and the two biggest festivals on the Seville calendar both fall in this month.
If you’re trying to work out whether April is a good time for long sightseeing days, outdoor dining, and wandering the city without melting, the answer is generally yes.
Here’s everything you need to know about Seville weather in April, from temperatures and rainfall to what to pack and what’s on.

What’s the Weather Like in Seville in April?
The short answer: warm, mostly sunny, and very pleasant.
April temperatures in Seville average around 18°C (64°F) across the month, with daytime highs reaching 24°C (75°F) and cooler nights dropping to around 11°C (52°F). There are occasional showers, but they tend to be brief, and the sun usually returns quickly.
If you’re wondering how warm Seville is in April compared to other European cities, you’ll be glad to hear it’s noticeably warmer and perfect for city exploration.
It’s genuinely t-shirt weather during the day, though evenings can feel cool once the sun goes down. If you’re out early in the morning or staying out late for dinner, you’ll usually want a light extra layer.

Average High and Low Temperatures in April
- High: 24°C (75°F)
- Low: 11°C (52°F)
Temperatures rise gradually as the month goes on.
Early April tends to be slightly cooler and more unpredictable, while mid-April and the second half of the month settle into warmer, more reliable conditions.
That said, April can surprise you, and heat waves are not unheard of; in April 2023, parts of Andalucía hit 35–38°C (95–100°F) for several days. Most people, though, will get pleasantly warm spring weather rather than true summer heat.
Seville Weather in Early April
The first week of April can feel more like late spring than full spring.
Temperatures are mild rather than warm, with more cloud cover and a higher chance of rain.
If your trip falls in Seville’s first week of April, I recommend packing an extra layer and bringing a travel umbrella.
Check the forecast before you go. It’s still usually pleasant for walking around the city, but you may not get that all-day warm feeling people often imagine when they think of southern Spain.
Seville Weather in Mid-April
By mid-April, things have usually settled into proper spring weather.
Days are longer, temperatures are more consistent, and you’re much more likely to have clear skies.
This is also when Feria de Abril typically falls, which means the city is at its most alive. If you’re hoping for sunny afternoons, terrace weather, and long evenings out, this is usually the better part of the month to aim for.

Hours of Daylight in April
There are an average of 13 hours of daylight in Seville.
Sunrise happens between 7:29 am and 8:08 am, mornings get brighter, earlier as the month goes on, and winter seems more like a distant memory.
Sunset falls between 8:46 pm and 9:13 pm, getting gradually later.
That’s a long day, and plenty of time to see a lot. April is a great month for fitting in a slower lunch, sightseeing, and an evening paseo without feeling rushed.
Rainfall in April in Seville
April averages around 57mm of rainfall spread across roughly 7–8 days.
Thankfully, most rain comes in short bursts rather than all-day drizzle, and it’s common for the sun to reappear within half an hour.
It’s still worth having a small umbrella or packable rain jacket with you, but rain is unlikely to derail your plans. In most cases, it’s more of a brief inconvenience than a day-ruiner, but that said, there are plenty of things to do on rainy days in Seville.
Humidity in April in Seville
Humidity sits at around 60–65% in April.
Mornings can feel slightly more humid, while afternoons are usually drier. Most people find this comfortable. It doesn’t usually have that sticky feel you get in more tropical climates.
UV Index in April
The UV index in April ranges from 6 to 8, which is classed as high to very high.
Despite it being so early in the year, the Seville sun is strong, even when it doesn’t feel like it. If you’re spending time outdoors, wear SPF and a hat, and try to take a break from direct sun between 11 am and 3 pm.
Stay hydrated, too.
There are drinking fountains throughout the city, and the tap water in Seville is safe to drink. A lot of people get caught out in spring because the temperature feels mild, but the sun is stronger than they expect.
Wind in April in Seville
Seville isn’t a particularly windy city, and April is no exception.
Average wind speeds sit around 10 km/h (6 mph), which is gentle enough to make outdoor time pleasant rather than uncomfortable. For most people, wind isn’t something you’ll need to think about when packing or planning your day.

What to Wear in Seville in April
Light layers are the way to go.
During the day, a t-shirt or light shirt is usually enough. Bring a light jacket or cardigan for evenings, when temperatures can drop noticeably once the sun is down.
Comfortable walking shoes are a must; you’ll cover a lot of ground on foot. If it’s been raining, the cobblestoned streets can feel slippery.
A small packable umbrella or light rain jacket is worth including, though you probably won’t use it every day.
If you’re visiting at the start of the month, I’d lean slightly more towards spring layers than full summer clothes.
For evenings out at dinner or a show, smart casual works well across most places in the city.

Good To Know
And, if you’re attending Feria de Abril, the dress code is a different matter entirely.
Women typically wear traditional flamenco dresses (trajes de flamenca), and men often wear traditional suits or smart casual. It’s not compulsory, but many visitors choose to dress up, and it adds to the experience.

Things to Do in Seville in April
April is a great time to be in Seville.
The weather makes outdoor activities genuinely enjoyable, the city’s gardens and parks are at their best, and the festivals give the whole place a different energy.
Some highlights for April:
- Visit the Real Alcázar and its gardens, which look spectacular in spring
- Explore the historic centre on foot; the streets around Santa Cruz are particularly good at this time of year, especially if people have decorated their balconies and terraces with flowers.
- Take a bike ride along the river or through María Luisa Park
- Attend Semana Santa or Feria de Abril (see below)
- Take a day trip to Córdoba or Ronda while the weather is ideal for it
April is one of the best months for exploring Seville on foot, before summer starts making midday sightseeing feel like a chore.

April Events in Seville
Two of Seville’s most important events fall in April, though the exact dates shift depending on when Easter falls.
If your trip overlaps either one, expect bigger crowds, higher prices, and a much busier city centre.
Semana Santa (Holy Week)
The week leading up to Easter Sunday. Seville’s Semana Santa is widely regarded as the most impressive in Spain.
Elaborately decorated floats are carried through the streets by costaleros, accompanied by bands and enormous crowds. Processions take place each day and night, with some running into the early hours.
Roads close across the centre, and accommodation prices rise sharply. If you’re visiting for Semana Santa, book well in advance. It’s an unforgettable time to be in the city, but not the easiest week for relaxed sightseeing.
Feria de Abril (April Fair)
Traditionally held two weeks after Easter Sunday.
The fairground (el Real de la Feria) comes alive with hundreds of colourful striped tents (casetas), live music, Sevillanas dancing, horses, and plenty of food and drink.
Most casetas are private, but there are public ones that anyone can enter. People dress in traditional outfits, and the atmosphere goes on until the early hours every night for a week. It’s genuinely unlike anything else.
Weather-wise, April is ideal for Feria: warm enough to be outside for hours, but usually not as exhausting as Seville later in the summer.

Planning Tip
If Easter falls early, Semana Santa can take place in late March, and Feria can fall in early May. Always check the exact dates for the year you’re travelling. This can make a big difference to prices, crowd levels, and hotel availability.

Daytime temperatures typically reach 24°C (75°F), occasionally higher. Nights are cooler at around 11°C (52°F), so evenings can feel quite fresh. On unusually warm years, temperatures can push into the low 30s. Most days feel comfortably warm rather than hot.

April is one of the busiest months of the year in Seville, largely because of Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. If you want the weather without the biggest crowds, aim for dates outside the main festival periods.
How many days does it rain in April in Seville?
On average, around 7–8 days. Rain usually comes in short bursts rather than sustained downpours, and the sun tends to return quickly. Total monthly rainfall averages around 57mm. It’s worth packing for the possibility of rain, but not building your trip around it.
