Seville’s weather in July is intense. Daytime temperatures regularly hit 36°C (97°F) and higher, the sun is relentless, and there is no rain to speak of. If you love real heat, July can be wonderful. If you struggle with it, this is probably not your month.

I’ve lived in Seville for years, and July is the month when the city changes its rhythm completely. Mornings start early. Afternoons disappear. Evenings come alive long after the sun goes down.

Is Seville Too Hot in July?

Honestly, it depends on the person.

If you’re in the planning stages of your trip, it’s important to know that the average daytime temperature in Seville in July is 36°C (97°F), and in recent years it’s regularly pushed well above that during heat waves. 

Prepare for your shoes to melt into the asphalt!

Whether that’s too hot is a personal call, but it’s extreme heat, not just warm summer weather. It’s the kind of heat where being outside between noon and 8 pm feels like a punishment.

The saving grace is that it’s a dry heat. 

Unlike humid climates, the air doesn’t feel thick and sticky. Your sweat evaporates almost immediately, which makes the temperature more bearable than the numbers suggest. 

But it also means you dehydrate faster than you realise, so drinking water constantly is non-negotiable.

If you’re heat-sensitive, May, October, or even late September are better months to visit Seville. If you’re fine in high temperatures, July in Seville gives you a quieter version of the city.

Unlike spring months, where temperatures swing noticeably from early to late in the month, July is steady. 

If you’re thinking about booking the Alcazar and other attractions, go for the earliest time-slot possible.

Seville weather in early July and through to the end of July feels very similar. It’s hot throughout. 

Nights drop to around 20°C (68°F), which feels almost pleasant after the afternoon heat. Warm enough for a T-shirt, cool enough to sleep with air conditioning.

Early July is hot and dry, with days already well into the mid-30s. 

Schools in Andalucía break up for summer around this point, which means many Sevillano families head to the coast or cooler parts of Spain. The city gets noticeably quieter. 

For visitors, that’s a real benefit: shorter queues at the Alcázar and Cathedral, easier restaurant reservations, a more local feel to the streets.

Seville Weather at the End of July

Temperatures sit in the same range as the beginning: 35 to 38°C (95 to 100°F) on a typical day, occasionally higher. 

The Icónica music festival runs through the end of the month, which gives the evenings energy. Sightseeing strategy stays the same throughout: early mornings and late evenings, nothing in between.

July has around 14 hours of daylight, though the days are getting slightly shorter after the June solstice.

Sunrise falls between 7:07 am and 7:27 am, getting later as the month goes on. Sunset is between 9:48 pm early in the month and 9:32 pm by the end.

Getting up early is the single best piece of advice I can give for July. 

Aim to be at outdoor sights by 9 am. By 11 am, the heat is building fast, and by 1 pm, you’ll want to be somewhere cool.

July is statistically the driest month of the year in Seville. Average rainfall: 0mm.

Leave the umbrella at home. 

A freak summer storm is not completely impossible, but it’s rare enough that you shouldn’t factor it into your planning. Use the luggage space for sun cream instead.

Humidity in July in Seville

With zero rainfall comes the lowest humidity of the year: around 44% in July.

This is the dry heat I mentioned earlier. 

It makes a real difference to how the temperature feels. Seville in July is hot, but it’s not the clammy, oppressive heat you get in Southeast Asia or on the US east coast in summer. 

You can breathe easily. You just need to keep drinking water, because your body is losing it faster than it feels.

UV Index in July

The UV index in July reaches 10, which is classed as extremely high. The top of the standard scale.

This is serious sun. 

Wear SPF 50 every day, not just when you’re planning a long stint outside, but every morning as a baseline. Reapply throughout the day. 

A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses are not optional. 

Try to be in shade or indoors between 11 am and 8 pm. That window is broader in July than in any other month.

Drink more water than you think you need. The tap water in Seville is safe to drink, and there are public drinking fountains throughout the city. Use them often.

Average wind speed is around 10 km/h (6 mph). 

Seville is not a windy city at the best of times, and July is no exception. 

Whatever breeze exists will feel very welcome; however, most of the time this just feels like hot air being wafted over you and isn’t refreshing at all.

What to Wear in Seville in July

July in Seville is hot hot hot. Here’s what to pack:

• As light as possible.
• Linen or loose cotton in light colours. 
• T-shirts, shorts, sundresses, and sandals all work throughout the day and into the evening. 
• Even at night, temperatures stay well above 20°C (68° F), so layers are largely unnecessary.
• Comfortable shoes matter more than you’d think. 
• Cobblestones and flip-flops are a bad combination on a long day out. Good sandals with proper support are worth it.
• A good hat, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle will serve you better than almost anything else in your bag. Don’t bother with a rain jacket. You won’t need it.

What a July Day in Seville Actually Looks Like

This is the part most weather guides skip, so here’s the honest version.

I’m typically out by 8 am to run errands or do anything that needs doing outside. 

By mid-morning, I’m back indoors. In July, that means shutters down and windows shut. Counterintuitive if you’re from the UK, but it keeps the heat out. 

The city goes quiet in the early afternoon. Most sensible people are inside.

Around 8 pm, things start to move again. 

The temperature doesn’t drop dramatically, but it becomes bearable. By 10 or 11 pm, the streets are full, restaurants are buzzing, and the evening finally has a bit of cool to it. 

That’s when Seville in summer makes sense.

Plan your sightseeing the same way: outdoor stuff early, indoor or shaded stuff in the afternoon, long dinner, and an evening out.

The rule for July is simple: plan around the heat.

• Visit the Real Alcázar or Seville Cathedral first thing in the morning. They’re cooler inside, and queues are shortest before 10 am. Once it’s past 11 am, you’ll feel the difference
• If budget allows, look for a hotel with a rooftop pool. In July, this goes from a nice-to-have to something you’ll actually use every day
• Catch a concert at Icónica Sevilla Fest at the Plaza de España in the evenings. One of the most spectacular open-air venues in Spain, and far more pleasant once the sun has dropped
• Head to Calle Betis in Triana for the evening. This is also where the Velá de Santa Ana festival happens at the end of July. The strip along the river has plenty of bars with good views, and it’s one of the best places to be in Seville on a warm summer night
• Take a day trip to a nearby beach. Cádiz is the easiest by public transport, and a sea breeze after a week in the city makes a real difference
• If afternoon siestas aren’t your thing, then explore some of these top galleries and museums of Seville and take advantage of their strong air conditioning. 
• If you’re travelling with kids, then Agua Magica Water Park is a great option

July is one of the best months for experiencing Seville’s evening culture. Late dinners, outdoor terraces, streets full of people at 11 pm. That side of the city is brilliant.
